Two Republicans of high-profile, Mike Huckabee (likely presidential candidate in 2012) and Chris Christie, Governor of New Jersey) have supported the campaign of anti-obesity of Michelle Obama - covers break with the majority of his party.

Both Huckabee and Christie have had their own struggles of weight - Huckabee once weighed 300 pounds; Christie has described himself as "barrels".

Many of the criticisms of the campaign of Michelle Obama has been the Republicans who believe that it is not the role of the Government to interfere in the private life of individuals. The Rush Limbaugh radio host complained that:

She demands that everyone basically eat tofu, without calories, fat-free, and cardboard anything, to stop obesity.

Christie has made it clear that he has no interest in the government dictating what can and can not eat - people but that he did not believe that this is what you are doing Michelle Obama:

Do not want the Government to decide what can and what you can not eat... I think that Mrs Obama be there encouraging people in the form positive eating well and to exercise and be healthy, I don't have a problem with that.

The growing obesity crisis is considered each time more as a national problem, rather than a question of people. Huckabee has pointed out that 75% of American youth are not fit for military service, due to excess weight or obesity, saying:

This is no longer just a health issue, an economic issue. It is becoming a problem of national security.

What do you think? Is the guilt of persons and their responsibility obesity? The Governments of the United Nations with the rates of high obesity (such as the United States and United Kingdom) do more to promote a healthy lifestyle?
